I have now been working at VE for over six months, and this means that I have had the chance to go to two Jornadas! Any VE antiguo will know that the Jornada weekend is a special one and knowing that this would be my last VE Global Jornada experience, I knew I had to enjoy every second.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Jornada is a long weekend falling mid-way through the volunteers’ minimum four-month commitment cycle, where we all take some time away from the city to reflect, relax and get to know each other better. This time, we went to a foundation in the town of Hijuelas, where there are cabins and a swimming pool in a very peaceful area. Jornada is the perfect mix of scheduled times for group activities, and free time to spend however you want to – we even managed to fit in a hike up the hill behind where we were staying and a yoga class!
But most of all, it is a time to bond as a group, laugh lots and eat some delicious food together! I came away from the weekend feeling very relaxed and happy to have had the chance to build even stronger relationships in the VE community, and I am so grateful that it is a part of the VE Global experience. I know that my two Jornadas will remain some of my favourite memories from my time in Chile.
At VE Global, we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us for a minimum of four months and are now accepting applications for our volunteer class starting in May!
