We are so grateful to the Ministerio de Desarrollo Social in Santiago for their continued support of VE Global’s mission. This year we have received two grants from them: the Fondo Chile de Todas y Todos and the Fondo Mixto de Apoyo Social.
We received the first grant in November, and these funds will be dedicated to our brand new Lifeskills Training initiative, which will begin in 2016. This new program, ¡Soy Independiente!, will provide much needed training to older children in our partner organizations, so that they can learn the skills needed to transition into independent living once they leave the residential homes where they currently live.
The second grant will be essential for funding our volunteer program in 2016 by providing training and continued support to the children and volunteers throughout the volunteers’ long-term commitment working with us. Our extensive training and continued education sessions are one of the great benefits of our program and we have received some very positive feedback from our volunteers. The grant also allows us to expand those training and education opportunities beyond our volunteers to the staff and teams of our partner organizations as well! We are excited to build even strong community in Santiago with this great opportunity.
As we come to the end of another year at VE Global, we reflect on the organizations that have helped us to continue working towards our mission throughout the past 10 years. Many thanks to the Ministerio de Desarrollo Social for their support. We are looking forward to sharing more news and updates in the new year about the exciting progress we are making thanks to these new funding opportunities!
