Paul Tough reminds us in his book, How Children Succeed that “…adolescence can be a time for a different kind of turning point, the profoundest sort of transformation: the moment when a young person manages to turn herself away from near-certain failure and begins to steer a course towards success.”
VE Global is proud to announce a new project that will help many Chilean youth do just that: the Chilean Ministry of Social Development has just awarded VE Global a $US 30,000 grant for ¡Soy Independiente! In 2016, we will design and implement a Life Skills Training series for 50 young people, aged 14 to 19 years old, living in children’s shelters in Santiago.
This grant from the Ministerio de Desarrollo Social allows us to grow in Chile, expanding on the last 10 years of our amazing work with children and youth through our volunteer program.
Our new program will provide the young people we work with the practical life skills and emotional tools they need to help break free from cycles of abuse and poverty that affect the lives of too many!
We are so thrilled to begin September with a new volunteer group and this exciting chance to have an even stronger impact on fulfilling our vision of a global community that ensures equality of opportunity for all children!
